Traveling around the world gives you an unparalleled view into the daily lives of people in countless cultures around the globe. In many ways, people throughout the world do a lot of the same things, but the interesting part is how they go about accomplishing those things. Take for example the simple task of taking a shower.

Machu Picchu, The Lost City of the Incas, one of the seven wonders of the world. The name Machu Picchu alone conjures up romantic images of exploration and historical discovery. Unfortunately for me, Machu Picchu only aroused a mild level of excitement, mostly due to its aforementioned notoriety.

In Huacachina, Peru there was a monkey at our hostel. We decided that it was about time for Swinger to make a new monkey friend, so we brought him outside. The real monkey was terrified of swinger and only with the owner holding him would he cautiously reach out and touch Swinger.

It is that time of year. My mom regularly asks me for more info on what Christmas is like down here. How do they celebrate? What are you going to do for Christmas? This is now the second Christmas that we have been on the road. Last Christmas was in Europe so the similarities made it feel a lot like home.

Well, I guess I can not really say never, because we did get the trucks blessed by some kind and generous monks in Thailand, so maybe you can consider the blessing of the trucks in Copacabana, Bolivia an after-the-fact kudos to the powers that be.
